# locate

> find filenames quickly

- Look for pattern in the database. Note: the database is recomputed periodically (usually weekly or daily).

`locate {{pattern}}`

- Recompute the database. You need to do it if you want to find recently added files.

`sudo /usr/libexec/locate.updatedb`
